A new beginning (A short story)

Rajneesh turned 60 years had just retired from his job, he received his greetings through his social networking sites, smses and phone calls. He was feeling happy about the greetings. He wondered what is happiness where does it lie? He remembered during his college days his friends telling him about how so great one felt when one smoked a cigarette. He also used hear about sexual interactions of his friends with women and pornographic movies they watched. Rajneesh aim in life in college was to get a job for which he felt he had to study hard and do nothing else so he never followed his friends. So did he miss the so called happiness his friends seemed to enjoy? When Rajneesh started working he heard his friends talking about how they sat and drank all night. Some told him how they went to dance bars. Rajneesh felt he had to work hard to survive in his job so spent long hours in office and like in college never followed his friends. So did he miss the so called happiness his friends enjoyed? He got married and life changed completely. His married life was quite sad like his working life. It was a year now that his wife had died. Rajneesh started thinking what is it that he felt happy about in his life. He realised that his interactions with Sandhya a lady less than 10 years younger to him whom he met in one of the companies he worked for were quite pleasant. Sandhya was like a mentee for Rajneesh and sought his advise from time to time. Rajneesh on his own too did things he felt would make Sandhya feel good. He kept the relationship professional and platonic throughout. But it was the most satisfying. Rajneesh also realised he found happiness in mentoring and teaching people junior to him throughout his life. Rajneesh wondered "At sixty should I look for an end or a new beginning?" Rajneesh was in regular touch with Sandhya and knew she was single currently,  he noticed an advertisement in the newspaper requiring teachers who had retired in their jobs. This could be a new beginning for him. Rajneesh wondered "Should I ask Sandhya if she could join me? And apply for this teacher's job". If Sandhya could join him and he got the teacher's job it would be a new beginning in his life.
