Radha Chooses her fate (A Short Story)

Krishna's and Radha's was an arranged marriage. Radha was not very happy with the match but bowed to parental pressure and agreed to the marriage. Krishna was shy and introverted while Radha was an extrovert. Both were working and were doing fairly well but Radha was always doing better. A year later after their marriage a daughter Sukanya was born. With the arrival of the daughter things became difficult to handle at home with both working. They decided that one of them should take a break in their career. Since Radha was doing better than Krishna it was decided that Krishna would take the break and become a house husband for some time. Krishna took his job seriously taking care of the child and Radha continued working late in office. Slowly Radha felt she was drifting away as she felt more comfortable at office than home. Radha was taunted in office for her husband doing the things that he was doing at home. Radha slowly felt closer to Rajesh her colleague in office who was the person she thought should have come into her life and that marrying Krishna was a mistake. Radha started dating Rajesh secretly. Rajesh proposed to her and informed that his divorce was in progress and as soon as it goes through they could get married and that he would help getting her divorce. Radha accepted the proposal. The next day she had a long chat with Krishna about separation. Krishna was shocked to hear but accepted as he felt Radha had already made up her mind. Rajesh made a suggestion to Radha that she should stay with him during the divorce proceedings with Krishna. Radha agreed and started staying with Rajesh. Radha felt her golden years had started she was getting to marry a man of her choice. When Radha started staying with Rajesh she realized that he used to drink regularly. The maid in the house informed her that Rajesh beat his wife regularly hence she separated, also that Rajesh had falsely accused his wife of having an affair with another man to get a divorce. Radha confirmed this through other sources. She had not bothered earlier to find out as she was blind to all these things. After staying a month with Rajesh, Radha decided she had done a mistake. One day when Rajesh was away Radha packed her bags and went to her father's place. To her surprise Krishna and Sukanya were present there. Considering the situation Krishna thought and felt it would be best to forget the past and re-concile with Radha. He made the proposal to Radha which she readily accepted.
