The Rose and the Potato (A Poem)

Roses filled the evening air
with their fragrance
the atmosphere seemed wonderful
by their presence
Their beauty got
everyone's complement
The potatoes in the corner
got only contempt
Try eating a rose
it has only beauty
a potato is preferred
although shapeless and ugly
It is better to
have something useful
than to have
something just beautiful
