Down in the lane (A Poem)

Down in the lane
stands a beggar boy
clothed in dirty rags
his face is like cobwebbed gold
so beautiful yet so dirty
below his nest like hair

Just above
sits a well clothed boy
goes to a nice school
wears nice clothes
has nice parents
to look after him

Looks at the beggar boy
and feels foolishly superior
It is just a question of fate
some are, others aren't fortunate
