Shyam had known Shalini for 3 years. He felt he had found a friend in her with whom he could confide and have a platonic relationship. Also somebody he could call and ask for help when needed. Shyam over the years had done several things for Shalini helped her in office realted work also gifted some articles, chocolates to make her feel happy. One day Shyam tried to call Shalini to check for information sent to per her request was appropriate, he would hear some noises and sometimes a user busy message, unconsiously he tried a few times. He got an SMS message from Shalini "will call you back". Shyam realised that Shalini could be busy and knowing her she would never keep her word so as expected he did not receive any call from Shalini that day. Anxious that something was wrong with Shalini he tried contacting her many times. After pursuing for 10 days he got a message "I have a personal problem so cannot talk, need some time" from Shalini. Paranoid that his worst fears have come true He felt helpless at not being able to help Shalini with her problem. Shyam contacted the office personal problem helpline to see if they could help Shalini they declined saying the person herself should come forward then only they could deal with it. Shyam started thinking of options which could help Shalini. He thought of flowers which most women like could be sent to her residence. He looked up a website and made a request to send fresh seasonal flowers to Shalini residence. Shyam did not want that as a surprise so he sent an SMS to Shalini "I have arranged to send flowers to your residence to appreciate your work in office". Shyam got a response "Please do not send I am living with my sister nowadays so there will be nobody to receive it". Shyam swung into action and held the order immediately for that day. He sent an SMS to Shalini "I have cancelled the order for today when can it be sent?". There was no response so in the evening Shyam cancelled the order completely. Two days later Shyam got an SMS again from Shalini "When I told you not to send, why did you send flowers?". Shyam was devastated how did the flowers reach when he cancelled the order and the money was being returned? He had known of services not being delivered inspite of paying for it and here was a case when something had delivered without being paid! He fumbled and sent a couple of SMSes not knowing what to say. When Shyam tried calling Shalini she did not pickup as she did most of the time. Shalini sent back a message to Shyam "Whatever has happened has happened don't send me messages I do not like many calls or messages". Shyam was taken aback by Shalini's rudeness. Shyam checked with the Florist who was supposed to delver the flower and confirmed that no flowers were delivered. Shyam realised that Shalini lied to him, also possibly never had a personal problem. Shalini had waited to get the required information from Shyam before breaking all contact. Shyam realised that Shalini was not interested and not worth pursuing and it was good that he realised early enough.
